Hajjâj Highlander

Note: It’s really “El-Hajjâj Highlander” but the “El” part is silent.

Hajjâj Highlander is an Old School Singleton format based on the Beasts of the Bay Singleton format, but with a bit more power, as we allow Moxes and Sol Ring. It originated with the Stockholm in a Bottle crowd, thus the name. (For those who don’t know, City in a Bottle is found in El-Hajjâj’s workshop.)
The following card sets are legal in Hajjâj Highlander:
Standard Old School including Fallen Empires. Furthermore, all non-foil magic cards (i.e. not CE and ICE) with the same art (yes, Plateau, Serendib, we know) and old border are allowed.

Each deck must contain at least 60 cards and be highlander: there can only be one of each card, with the exception of basic lands.

Matches are played best of 1 game, so no sideboards are used. Ring of Ma’rûf is legal and can get any non-banned card. (Yes, even one you have in your deck. The card is bad enough already.)

The following cards are banned in Hajjâj Highlander:

  • Ancestral Recall
  • Black Lotus
  • Braingeyser
  • City in a Bottle
  • Library of Alexandria
  • Mind Twist
  • Time Walk
  • All Ante Cards
